We were surprised that the copy received yesterday from bm was an
email she sent to Robotics' school district director, "(Ss) will also be spending
weekends with me in January and Febraury and, therefore, will be missing
some future meetings. If you and the other supervisors of the Robotics
Club can be understanding of (ss's) schedule to spend time with both
parents, then he can continue to participate in Robotics. If his
absences will not be permitted, then email me of your decision."
Director replied to bm, "Thank you so much for sharing this info
with us. I will make sure that the teacher...understands this also. It
is not a problem for (ss) to miss those Saturdays - spending time with
one's parents is very valued here. I appreciate your support for (ss's)
participation in the Robotics class and he can email his responses to
the quiz which is really just a way to ensure that students are keeping
up with the learning they will have to have in order to build the robot
in January and February. I will keep your email address and make
sure you know about the competition dates. If you get the NASA channel
on cable tv, you will be able to follow some of this in March and
April."
I emailed the robotics director dh's response to bm about bm's letter
to the director, and the director's response.
I wasn't clear enuf in the email what it was about and the teacher
emailed me,
"Dear **,
Who is the intended recipient of this email? It appears to
be written for
(S's) mother(?), but it is addressed to me and I am sure
that the intended
party never received it. Please clarify.
Sincerely, "
I just emailed the teacher,
"Sorry, I realized afterwards I should have said,
fyi,
(dh to bm about bm's letter to director, and her response)
BTW, thank you for your response to her. It was very appropriate.
I find it ironic that (bm's) concerned that both parents see (ss),
cuz severe visitation denial is the reason she lost custody summer '99.
We didn't know she had an email address. Her copy of her
correspondence with you given to (dh) carefully excludes her email
address. I asked (ss), 'Does your mom have email? How come she
hasn't given it to your dad?' (ss) said she's afraid we'd spam her.
I said, 'I think she's talking about herself.' He replied, 'Given the definition of flaming, saying mean things, she's more
likely to do that than you.'
We snail mailed her the letter I fyi'd you about.
I asked (ss), 'I'm curious. Don't tell me what
it is, but do you have her email?' No, she hasn't given it to him.
He saw it once, doesn't remember what it was, and doesn't want it
anyway.
The beat goes on."

1/2001 Ss begins to receive emails from bm's co-workers. She asks them
to send her messages to her son so her email address isn't given
out.

Recently when dh picked up ss,
ss had left stuff behind. Bm couldn't reach dh on his cell to tell him
to return to pick the stuff up, and called me urgently wanting me to
reach him. I explained if it wasn't working for her it probably wouldn't
work for me. I suggested she email him cuz he's paged on emails. I had
forgotten until her hesitation that she didn't want us to have her email
address. I didn't feel the need to rescue her and I didn't offer
to email dh. Dh and ss were home an hour later and she hadn't emailed
dh.
Dh and I haven't updated bm
regarding robotics cuz she made it clear she didn't want ss
participating this year. But last night bm very appropriately called
asking for the flight information, and asked dh to email the info to
her. So now he has her address, and she plans to call ss at the hotel at
night.
