When you look at the deadbeat sites, ask yourself if you're behaving like a deadbeat, and remember that men are victims of "her" deadbeat mentality also.

Whether you are a custodial parent, a non-custodial parent, a first wife, a second wife, a girlfriend, a boyfriend, ask yourself if you're behaving in the best interest of the child.

'96 Dh and bm meeting with mediator. Dh mentions he's a stepfather. Bm yells out, "He's not a stepfather! He's not even married!" The very professional mediator finally loses her cool, "This is NOT about your needs. This is about (Ss's) needs!"

Bm writes, "He's part of your family but he is NOT part of (Concerned Stepmom's) family."

We were married '96 on the 4th anniversary of our blind date, partly cuz we'd planned to get married, and partly cuz of court.

2000 All of her efforts haven't worked. Ss looks out for his oldest stepsister when she's getting "hit" on. My daughter's amused by her stepbrother acting like a protective brother.

Both my girls look out for ss and include him in their activities.

We are a close, blended and bonded family.

I bought return address labels from Live in Love that include all 4 kids, dh and I. I include them on all correspondence and faxes.

ps. Looking for ways to bond our family, I came up with our family tradition for April Fool's Day. I collect crazy hats. April Fool's Day whoever is at our home must dare to wear a crazy hat and go out to dinner.

We've struggled with my daughters' father not giving them the attention they needed. We've struggled with my stepson's mother's refusal to cooperate with visitation and creating many hard times. We struggled with those issues, and have improved those issues, for the sake of the kids. They are worth it. You may not be in the 'space' right now to be able to do it. Please consider it for the future. Mother or father, custodial or non-custodial parent, as tough and hellish as walking thru these issues is, please do it for the children.
